Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

The short version

VarianceCalc performs every calculation locally in your browser. The numbers you paste or type are never sent to, processed by, or stored on our servers. We don't run analytics or advertising trackers on this site.

Your calculator data

The dataset you enter into the calculator stays in your browser's memory and is never transmitted anywhere automatically. The only exception is if you explicitly click "Copy link" to share a result — that action encodes your data and selected mode into the page URL (as ?d= and?m= query parameters) so it can be shared or bookmarked. Simply typing, pasting, or editing data never changes the address bar on its own.

Local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember one thing: your light or dark theme preference. This stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Server logs and hosting

Like any website, our hosting provider may automatically log standard technical information for security and reliability purposes — such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps — for pages you request. This is standard web server behavior, is not tied to any calculator data (which never leaves your browser), and is not used for advertising or profiling.

Cookies

We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking. Any storage used is limited to the local theme preference described above.

Third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties, because we do not collect any calculator input to begin with. If this ever changes — for example, if we introduce analytics — we will update this policy accordingly.

Children's privacy

This site is a general-purpose calculator and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
